Rochelle Humes has said that her haircare routine growing up was the result of her mother having struggled to "find products" for her at the time during her childhood. The presenter, 35, spoke about her childhood whilst a guest on the most recent episode of the Glad We Had This Chat podcast. Rochelle was interviewed by podcast host Caroline Hirons, who is among her colleagues on ITV 's This Morning .

Asked to share "hair and beauty memories," Rochelle noted that her mother Roz Wiseman had been a hairdresser. She added that there "wasn't anything" on shelves for her hair type, so single parent Roz had to shop outside of their area. Amid discussing Roz's career as a hairdresser, Rochelle said: "My mum used to sort of try loads of different things out.

And there wasn't ...

goodness me, compared to now, the stuff that was on the shelf for my hair type was, I mean, there just wasn't anything. And my mum would have to, like, drive from Essex to another side of London , where the community was probably a little bit more diverse, where we could find products for me." She added: "So my mum used to put fabric conditioner in.

I mean I used to smell amazing. I mean I'm not sure ..

. I didn't get a rash but I don't know what the allergens would look like now. She used to put fabric conditioner and warm water in like a garden spray pump.

And literally that's what my hair care regime was because someone had told her that." Rochelle also spoke on the podcast about now having her own skincare and haircare brand My Little Coco . Its website states that the brand's purpose is to "create safe, effective products for all the family no matter skin or hair type".

My Little Coco launched exclusively in Boots back in 2020. The brand has since expanded its products range, which currently include shampoo, conditioner, moisturising body lotion, clothing and various other products. Discussing her decision to launch the brand four years ago, Rochelle, who has three children with her husband Marvin Humes , commented on the podcast: "I found it really hard [as a parent] where products were concerned.

The high street I found quite hard in terms of haircare, in terms of moisturisers being y'know rich enough for Black skin." She added: "There was a lot of different elements that I found quite tricky." Rochelle - who rose to fame as a singer, having been a member of S Club Juniors and then the Saturdays - later said that she wanted to make "diverse products accessible".

She added: "Available, accessible but premium aesthetic." Caroline Hirons' Glad We Had This Chat podcast is available on Apple, Spotify, and all major podcast platforms . Follow Mirror Celebs on TikTok , Snapchat , Instagram , Twitter , Facebook , YouTube and Threads .
