DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – A 30-year-old Filipino is now living her dreams overseeing classy hotels across the Middle East and Europe, along with traveling the world, in her coveted role as Gulf region public relations manager for Rixos, a five-star Turkish hospitality name. Anjeanette Manuel, whose parents are both overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Dubai’s hotel sector, said being a Filipino with a ranking position usually held by Europeans at an international company “feels like being the only spicy dish at a banquet of classic cuisines.” She oversees 11 properties.

“Being a Filipino in a role as country PR (public relations) manager for Rixos Hotels is equally empowering and humbling. In my opinion, one’s nationality should never be an issue or a barrier to achieving goals. In fact, it can be a unique asset,” said Manuel, who obtained her degree in journalism from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in 2015.

“I see this as an opportunity to infuse a fresh perspective, challenge norms, and foster inclusivity,” she added. Manuel said she is grateful for the chance to represent Filipino culture while “contributing to a global narrative, proving that leadership is defined not by where you come from, but by your passion and perspective.” She said she is fortunate to be working at a hospitality brand “that looks at one’s talent and potential rather than his or her nationality.

” A colorful role As glitzy as it may look, Manuel’s task is not actu.
