IT can be tricky to know what to wear as a wedding guest, and not everyone nails the brief with their outfits. One woman decided to run her dress by Reddit users ahead of the big day to ensure that she was along the right lines - and it didn’t go down well. She wrote: “Is this okay for a Fall Evening Formal Wedding?” The wedding guest then showed photos of her dress which was a strappy maxi dress from House of CB.
The black, lacy dress - which has a corset back and retails for £199 - also comes with a detachable, long-sleeve shrug. The woman continued: “I feel like in my reading about wedding dress codes, ‘formal’ is a bit hard for me to pin down in my head. “ I tried this dress on.
“My partner who is in the wedding loves it on me and I agree it’s super flattering but is this right for a formal wedding?” People were quick to chime in with their views and didn’t hold back with saying they weren’t sure about it for a formal ceremony. One said: “this is what Dracula’s bride wears to bed.” Another added: “while it could be formal it doesn't read elegant.
” And a third commented: “Like for a formal traditional wedding with lots of older people, it’s a little too sexy Morticia Addams.” The wedding guest replied to criticism saying: “I can see that. “The couple are younger and they seem to have a lot of friends.
“The bride and her friends seem very stylish from the photos on their wedding site and what I see on facebook . “It’s also an adult only wedding but I don’t imagine that changes anything dress code-wise.” However, some people reassured here that it was fine.

“We’re expecting yellow in rich mango tones to be a big hit! If such a bold colour is too much of a commitment then consider more muted shades - I especially love the contrast of a pretty, feminine pink in more of an androgynous style such as suiting. "Of course you want to look your best at a wedding but it’s also important to feel comfortable in what you’re wearing. Choosing natural, breathable fabrics such as cotton and silk, especially during these muggier months, means you’re likely to be kept cool.
A block heel provides the best of both worlds - style and comfort - and is grass-friendly! "Something less structured means you’re more likely to be able to sit down, eat and dance all day long, while evening guests can afford to get a little more slinky and sultry with a show-stopping slip dress.
