SHE thought she'd found the perfect outfit for a pal's wedding. But little did Georgie Andrews know that her stunning midi gown would cause major fury on TikTok, where critics thought the look was not suitable for nuptials. The gorgeous blonde had forked out an eye-watering sum of £199 for a posh dress by the high-end brand House of CB.

The baby pink frock featured thin spaghetti straps, flattering sweetheart neckline and tulle detailing for a ballerina effect at the bottom. Georgie, who regularly shares fashion-related content on her page , had completed the look with a white beaded clutch detailed with a floral design. The chic accessory, she added, was a little vintage number she'd found on Etsy.

Meanwhile, for footwear, the style lover had picked up a pair of square toe kitten heels in bright white, complimenting the overall aesthetic. Getting ready for the big day, the beauty had kept the make-up pretty simple and glowy, adding a pink nude lippy to go with the light pink dress. All chuffed with the final result, Georgie wrote in the caption: ''The perfect dress doesn’t exist 💒✨ .

.. just a lil wedding guest ootd [outfit of the day].

'' But although the fashionista looked incredible and like a real-life princess, the video soon took the internet by storm for all the wrong reasons. Most read in Fabulous Dozens of viewers flocked to comments to slam Georgie for the pastel dress, which, in their eyes, was practically white. ''Such a stunning dress but I’d be too paranoid it looks too close to being white!'' read a remark that's been liked by almost 170 others.

Someone else agreed, warning Georgie: ''Stunning dress but I would worry this should show as white on photos.'' A third quipped: ''This is against girl code for wearing this to a wedding. ''It’s beautiful on you but if someone wore this to my wedding they doing a 360 at the door.

'' Another refused to believe the young woman had showed up to the romantic ceremony like this, writing: ''No, you didn't wear this to a wedding.'' By Josie Griffiths, Fabulous deputy editor and bride-to-be. Josie Griffiths said: I’ll never forget the wedding I went to in October 2022 where a guest wore a white dress.

It was ill-fitting, knee length and looked nothing like an actual wedding dress, but that didn’t stop everyone judging her. The rules on wedding guest outfits - which are annoyingly loads stricter for women than they are for men - are meant to be about “not upstaging the bride”, which in reality is quite hard to do on someone else’s wedding day. But if you get it wrong as a guest, you do end up looking a bit silly, and in front of loads of people who don’t know you personally.

It’s just not the occasion for your new white dress, as much as online stores love dumping them in the 'wedding guest’ section. I’d avoid anything too tight/short, and ditch super formal gowns unless the dress code calls for them - you don’t want to be in a full length sequin gown at a smart casual event. Personally I don’t like black dresses either, it isn’t a funeral.

Otherwise you should be pretty safe. Technically wearing red means you’re in love with the groom, but that’s the kind of rule most people would scoff at nowadays. I do always check what colour the bridesmaids are in, just to be safe, after the Spanish wedding where I watched them walk down the aisle in the exact same dress I’d had in my Asos shopping basket just weeks earlier.

If in doubt, safest to just double check with the bride...

but if you’re already doubting your dress that might be all the answer you need. 'After being brutally shamed for her outfit - which some reckoned was giving ''pick me'' vibes and looked ''very bridal'' - the blonde responded to the criticism. ''Pastel pink is a PERFECT wedding guest colour in summer,'' she hit back to one troll, adding she ''would love'' if everyone ''wore pastels'' to her big day.

''It’s lovely as a wedding guest dress, pastel pink so not even close to white like the bride would be wearing.''
