An easy way to spot the signs of ageing is when you inevitably start to find more joy in plush homeware than you ever thought possible. In my 20s, I can't honestly say I gave the quality of my bedding much, if any, thought. That was until I stumbled upon the Pensford Stripe bedding from Dunelm's The Edited Life collection.

Perusing the reviews, I was impressed by the number of shoppers who praised the "high quality" feel of the fabric. The sentiment of the Edited Life collection also struck a chord for me - I'm not after thin, trending products with designs that will date the place in a few months, but simple, classic designs made from high-quality material that is made to last. According to the Dunelm website, "The Edited Life introduces a new era of thoughtfulness in the home, with an understated collection of pieces chosen for their simple beauty, quality craftsmanship and innate usefulness that will last beyond any trend.

Having it all is no longer the goal; having enough, and it being just right, is." I couldn't agree more. At a time when every penny counts, investing in made-to-last products isn't just a more sustainable choice for our planet, but our bank balance.

And that's what the Pensford Stripe bedding appears to offer - at £46 for a kingsize set, there are definitely more budget-friendly options out there, but I'm yet to come across any made from a material that feels this sturdy. I can't speak to the longevity, having only bought the set a month ago, but I've washed and tumble-dried it twice and it is holding up very well so far. The fabric has a very heavy, yet breathable , feel to it that suggests it will last for a long time.

While I love the quality and feel of the bedding, it is worth noting that the actual colour of the product is a few shades lighter than it appears to be in the photos - I'd say it's closer to a sage green than olive. This difference is more stark as I ordered an olive green fitted sheet which is much darker in contrast. That being said, I've had some of the best nights of sleep since buying this bedding - while heavy, it is so breathable and great to keep cool during hot weather.

The Pensford Stripe bedding is available from £32 for a single bed, up to £52 for super kingsize at Dunelm. Alternatively, Amazon stocks this gorgeous Catherine Lansfield Brushed Cotton set in green or beige stripes, currently £10 off at £25..
