Pune: A third case of job fraud has now been registered against Vinayak Kadale (54), a retired civilian defence employee from the administrative section of the Command Hospital, Wanowrie, for allegedly cheating several victims of Rs49.35 lakh. One of the victims approached the Sahakarnagar police to lodge a complaint in this regard.

Kadale had taken voluntary retirement from defence services in 2021. The Kondhwa police first arrested him earlier this year on charges of cheating 58 job aspirants from Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Solapur of over Rs45 lakh. The Market Yard police on March 6 this year registered a second case against Kadale after Mundhwa resident Ajinkya Tanaji Gandhile (22) lodged a complaint, accusing Kadale of cheating him and 39 other job aspirants of Rs28 lakh in total between Dec 2021 and Aug 2023, and failing to deliver on job promises.

The Cantonment police are also examining a similar complaint against Kadale but are yet to take a call to register a case. In the latest case registered by the Sahakarnagar police, a 53-year-old retired schoolteacher from Dhankawadi has accused Kadale of cheating him of Rs30.60 lakh by promising a clerical job to his daughter at the Command Hospital.

"The complainant and Kadale were familiar with each other for many years," said senior inspector Chhagan Kapse of the Sahakarnagar police. The officer cited the FIR and said, "Kadale told the victim that the Command Hospital authorities would soon be conducting a written exam to fill various posts. The victim spread the word about the recruitment and possibility of securing govt jobs, among his relatives and friends.

" The officer added that Kadale promised jobs of clerks, multi-task services, computer operators, gardeners, and other posts to aspirants. "The complainant and 23 others met at Dhankawadi and decided to pay Kadale to secure the jobs. On the promise of jobs, Kadale asked for an initial payment of Rs 50,000-70,000 from each.

The victim has two children and paid more money to Kadale than some others. Kadale shared his bank account details with the victims and asked them to deposit money in the account," said Kapse. Police said Kadale also gave hall tickets with the hospital's stamp and seal to the victims ahead of the alleged written exam for recruitment.

On Feb 12, 2023, the aspirants visited the hospital to appear for the exam, where they found that no such test was being held, nor had the facility issued any hall tickets. "Following this, the victim came to know that he and the others had been cheated. He called Kadale and demanded his money back.

Since then, Kadale has not answered his phone calls," Kapse said. After waiting for a few months, the victims approached the police with their complaints. "We will arrest Kadale during the course of investigations," said the officer.
