Thiruvananthapuram: Sonia Thilakan , daughter of the late actor Thilakan , has disclosed that a prominent actor in the Malayalam film industry behaved inappropriately with her after the death of her father. “A leading actor approached me under the pretext of trying to resolve the issue with my father. I understood his intentions when I saw the messages he sent to me.
If someone like me, who is not part of the industry, has to face such issues, you can imagine the situation of leading heroines and other female actors,” she said. However, she was not ready to reveal the name of the actor. She said she would do it at an appropriate time.
She said there is a “power group” that has been controlling the Malayalam film industry and AMMA, the actors’ outfit, for a long time. “My father was ousted from the association for being vocal about the internal issues there. The same power group was behind this,” Sonia said.
Sonia came up with the disclosure a day after the Justice Hema Committee report, which exposed the shocking harassment and sexual exploitation faced by women in the Malayalam film industry, triggered a storm in the state. The expert panel report also has references to the ill-treatment faced by Thilakan, who had even faced a lifetime ban from the AMMA. Sonia said the actor had addressed her affectionately, but later dropped messages with wrong intent.
The messages were proof of his wrong intention, she said adding that she had been seeing him since her childh.
