They say fashion is cyclical, and in recent years, we’ve seen an increasing number of luxury houses revisiting archival designs on the catwalk, particularly when it comes to the bag department. Take Gucci’s reissues of the Jackie , Diana and Horsebit , or the Prada Re-Edition bags, which have all led to an increased interest in the OG styles. In fact, one might argue that the vintage boom we’ve seen of late is a major factor behind these revivals, as brands look to capitalise on the trend for nostalgia.

Case in point: Balenciaga re-released its Le City bag earlier this year, a couple of years after former Vogue staffer Liana Satenstein noted its return in popularity among fashion insiders. On the autumn/winter 2024 runways , there were plenty of references to vintage styles, alongside the reissues we’ve seen in recent seasons. Below, see all the new-season handbags that you can buy second-hand now.

Chloé bracelet bags Bracelet bags were all over the autumn/winter 2024 catwalks, including at Chloé, where the style harked back to those from Phoebe Philo’s spring/summer 2002 collection. While the new version is more slouchy in shape, Philo’s designs come in a heavily embellished iteration that truly does double up as a statement jewellery piece. Louis Vuitton Lockit We’ve seen the rise of several vintage Louis Vuitton bags in recent years, from the Speedy to the Neverfull.

Next up? The Lockit bag, which made a reappearance on the catwalk in March. Dating all the way back to 1958, the style has been revived numerous times over the years – with the larger tote shape making the perfect work bag. Dior flap bag The Dior Saddle and Lady Dior bags are both popular on the second-hand market, but the flap bag has been somewhat overlooked – until now.

For autumn/winter 2024, creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri revisited the style, which now comes emblazoned with “Miss Dior” lettering. The bags harked back to the designer’s Dioraddict bags from 2017, which are readily available on the resale market. Gucci bamboo bag While Gucci’s creative director Sabato De Sarno continued to reimagine the Jackie this season, a new bamboo-handled tote also caught our eye.

Of course, the bamboo handle has long been a signature of the Italian fashion house – including on the Diana bag – so there are plenty of vintage options to choose from if you want to emulate the new-season style. Prada Galleria Although not a new reissue, Prada’s Galleria bag featured prominently in the brand’s autumn/winter 2024 collection, with many of them again worn on the wrist as bracelets. The timeless style has been a bestseller ever since it was first launched in 2007, and comes in numerous colourways.
