However, their picks for “recommended” restaurants, places that Michelin still considers having good food and service, tend to be restaurants with more diverse types of cuisines and price points, and many of them don’t require a reservation three months in advance. From a beloved pasta shop to a Goan restaurant in an office building, here are four Michelin-recommended places to check out.



Since 2017, before Geary Avenue became a culinary destination, out of his tiny shop and slowly gaining a following. His pastas are simple and in traditional shapes, and are full of rich, eggy flavour and incredible bounciness. While the shop is mainly a wholesale supplier, from Wednesday to Friday it offers a limited lunch service; .

Expect to wait about an hour in line. Once you’re in, you‘ll order and pay at the register and indicate whether you want takeout (there’s a small outdoor patio) or one of the 10 seats inside. Each pasta dish is cooked-to-order, but since the menu is small the food comes fast.

On a recent visit, there was the Tortelli di Zucca Mantovani, a sweet pumpkin-filled pasta with butter and Parmesan for $17, and Tagliolini ai Finferli, thin egg pasta with wild chanterelles for $18. Both plates are generously portioned, luxuriously buttery and the .
