As we usher in a new year, we can look forward to a plethora of fantastic new television. In 2024, we were spoilt with top-notch shows like Baby Reindeer, Fallout, House Of The Dragon, Gladiators, Mr Bates Vs The Post Office, One Day, Fool Me Once, and many more – and it seems 2025 is set to follow suit. Let's take a peek at what the new year has in store for us on the small screen.

. The Last Of Us, season two, HBO/NOW: The first season of The Last Of Us, a post-apocalyptic drama inspired by the Naughty Dog video game series, was one of the standout TV moments of 2023. It bagged eight Primetime Emmy Awards, and viewers both old and new were captivated by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey’s performances as Joel and Ellie.



Therefore, its return for a second season in 2025 is eagerly awaited. Based on the sequel to the original game, The Last Of Us Part II, the series resumes five years after the conclusion of the first season. We find Ellie and Joel comfortably settled in the Wyoming community established by Joel’s brother, despite the devastating Cordyceps infection wreaking havoc outside their sanctuary.

However, when a figure seeking revenge from Joel’s past appears, the duo are once again thrust into a battle for survival. Playing Nice, ITV1 This riveting psychological thriller centres around two pairs of parents – Pete and Maddie, portrayed by Happy Valley’s James Norton and Malpractice’s Niamh Algar, and Miles and Lucy, played by Mare Of Easttown’s James McAr.
