Asian destinations have always been high on the list for travelling Aussies. And with less people heading to a slightly crowded Europe this year, it's no surprise Asian hotspots are becoming more popular. Bookings for flights have increased this year, according to Webjet data shared with 9Travel, with destinations across Asia seeing a 10 per cent increase in bookings for the coming months, when compared to the same period last year.

Here are the top 10 Asian destinations Aussies are travelling to right now. At number 10 are flights to Delhi, India, which have seen a two per cent increase on last year. India is a colourful destination packed with history, British architecture, museums, beaches and culture.



Most people kick things off in the big cities, before heading to the countryside. You'll uncover unique flavours, busy markets, hidden temples and nightlife. In ninth place, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia has seen a two per cent increase in bookings from now until November.

A city where glitzy skyscrapers meet hawker-style street markets, Kuala Lumpur is known as a melting pot of Southeast Asia. Vietnam is one of the emerging destinations of 2024, with two destinations in the country making the top ten. In eight place is Hanoi, Vietnam's capital, which is a buzzing hub of culture, history and tantalising cuisine.

Here you'll find a local joint where Anthony Bourdain and Barack Obama chatted over Pho. The bustling Ho Chi Minh City is in seventh place with a few more travellers opting to start their Vietnam adventures here. It's seen a three per cent increase in bookings when compared to last year.

The island of Phuket is often an Aussie traveller's first introduction to Thailand . With its pristine beaches, cheap food, legendary nightlife and a plethora of activities, it's a no-brainer when you're after a tropical holiday and has seen a four per cent increase in bookings. Manila is a densely populated bayside city on the island of Luzon, which mixes Spanish colonial architecture with modern skyscrapers.

In Old Manila you'll find a baroque 16th-century San Agustin Church as well as Fort Santiago, a storied citadel and former military prison. You'll never get bored in Bangkok, with temples, palaces, markets and shopping malls galore to explore.

There's the opulent Grand Palace and its sacred Wat Phra Kaew Temple and nearby is Wat Pho Temple with an enormous reclining Buddha. While a great stopover destination, flights to Singapore specifically have also jumped six per cent compared to peak times, which is usually considered March to August, although it is a year-round destination. In second place for destinations Aussies are travelling to in the coming months in Tokyo Japan, with a nine per cent increase on peak times.

But the standout still at number one with a whopping 47 per cent increase in flight bookings for a holiday in the next few months is Bali. Still an Aussie favourite, the best time to visit Bali is from May to October, which is the dry season where you'll enjoy mostly clear and sunny weather..
