Nightdive Studios has premiered the latest trailer for “The Thing: Remastered” as part of the DreadXP Indie Horror Showcase. This update of the acclaimed cult hit 2002 classic video game releases later this year and includes upgraded character models, updated lighting and atmospheric effects, hand-crafted animations, and increased resolution up to 4K/144fps. The game serves as a direct sequel to the 1982 horror film by John Carpenter.

In the frozen Antarctic tundra, a mysterious shape-shifting alien has wiped out the crew of the U.S. Outpost #31 research facility.



Players will play as U.S. Army Special Forces Captain J.

F. Blake as they are sent out to rescue the team at the research facility. Trapped by the elements and at risk of infection by a horrific entity, Blake must keep his squad together to survive by gaining their trust and ensuring that their fear and paranoia don’t get the best of them.

Players will command up to four NPCs as they go through eleven levels. Made with the developer’s proprietary KEX Engine, the game includes an advanced ‘fear/trust’ interface where your influence on your team’s psychological state directly impacts whether or not they cooperate with you. “The Thing: Remastered” will launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S later this year, no specific release date has yet been set.
