The Secrets of Color from Impressionism to Contemporary Art – POLA Museum of Art Dec 14, 2024 at 9:00am ~ May 18, 2025 at 5:00pm In today’s diverse and individualistic society, color plays an increasingly significant role—not just in fashion and interior design, but also in urban planning, mental health, and beauty. At the same time, the smartphones we use daily can now reproduce over a billion colors, immersing us in a vast spectrum without us even realizing it. This exhibition explores the role of color in modern and contemporary art, focusing on its connection to color theory and the materials that bring it to life.
Through paintings, sculptures, and installations, we trace how artists—from 19th-century Impressionists and Neo-Impressionists who revolutionized the visual world with oil paint, to 20th-century Fauvists and abstract painters, and today’s creators who use color to alter perception—have shaped our understanding of color. Driven by relentless research and innovation, these artists defined their eras through unique methods of expression. We invite you to uncover the secrets of color they dedicated their lives to revealing—an experience that will bring new vibrancy to your everyday life.
