Timepiece magician Steve Fletcher has become widely known for his skill in rejuvenating cherished antiques on the hit series, The Repair Shop, aired by the BBC . A master in horology, he not only works single-handedly but also teams up with his sibling Suzie Fletcher, a maestro in the art of leather restoration. Taking the baton from his grandfather who established a legacy clock shop back in 1910, Steve continues to serve at The Clock Workshop located in Witney, Oxfordshire, maintaining the family tradition that passed through his father's hands.

Fully equipped with expertise, Steve stepped into his forefather's shoes after earning his stripes in the family trade. Steve's days are often spent tendering to timepieces that hold memories indebted to both his father's and grandfather's touch. Reflecting on his most memorable project for The Repair Shop, Steve shared: "I find most of the clocks reasonably straightforward forward but one that sticks out is the Beliard clock which became a bit of a nightmare.

" Regarding the tricky restoration, he elaborated: "It had had a bash and then we couldn't get a correct type of mainspring so it took much longer than expected but once completed, it turned out really well and was a cracking clock." Curious about Steve's life away from the lights and cameras? He calls Witney home, enjoying life there alongside his long-standing partner, Mel. It was Mel who played a pivotal role in Steve's journey to The Repair Shop fame.

Grateful for the push in the right direction, Steve recounted the moment that could have changed everything: "In 2016 I received an email from a company that I hadn't heard of asking if I would be interested in taking part in a brand new show." It was nearly a fleeting opportunity as he admitted: "Not trusting anything that is on the internet, I nearly deleted it and would have done if my partner, Mel, hadn't stopped me saying that it all looks ok." Steve's Instagram often showcases his partner Mel, with a notable post in April where he shared Easter weekend fun.

Steve recounted: "I was in my local town of Witney playing the sax and having a brilliant time with good friends, then Mel and I decided to blow the cobwebs away with a hike up Pen y Fan in the Brecon Beacons." With a family of five kids - Fred, Amelia, Milly, Nicole, and his youngest whose name remains under wraps, life is bustling for Steve. Fred and Milly have joined him at the clock shop, while Amelia has carved out her niche as a social media influencer.

The youngest daughter boasts an impressive academic achievement with a degree from Oxford Brookes University. Father's Day was marked by a heartfelt tribute on his account, where he posted a photograph with three of his daughters and acknowledged two grandsons in his expanding family. The Repair Shop airs on Wednesdays on BBC One at 8pm.
