New Movember research shows that improving men’s health can save the healthcare system and wider society billions of dollars and boost economies. The economic burden of men’s health issues is staggering, with new Movember findings revealing that preventable diseases in men cost the health system a staggering $10.
7 billion in indirect costs in 2023 alone. Two in five (37 per cent) of Australian men die prematurely, before they are 75 years old. These deaths are, for the most part, preventable.

Research shows that premature death for men living in socially disadvantaged communities is nearly 1.
3 times higher than the average rate for those living in the least disadvantaged electorates. Men are also less likely to ask for help when they need it. And when men do ask for help, the health system doesn’t always respond to their needs.
