Cast: Colin Farrell, Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Clancy Brown, James Madio, Scott Cohen, Michael Zegen, Carmen Ejogo, Theo Rossi Director: Craig Zobel Matt Reeves’ The Batman , starring Robert Pattinson, garnered love from the audience and emerged as a global blockbuster. After two years, The Penguin has arrived and made an impressive start, just to make us realize why we loved The Batman so much. The first episode of The Penguin begins after a week of Batman’s dark and explosive conclusion, with the mob reeling from the death of mob boss Carmine Falcone.

Colin Farrell’s Oz Cobb returns as an aspirational mobster who finds and explores the weaknesses of the Falcone family as an opportunity to become head and revolutionize the drug market. Another most impressive part of the show is the inclusion of a strong new ensemble in the form of Rhenzy Feliz as Victor Aguillar, Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone, and Michael Kelly as Falcone underboss Johnny Vitti along with Alberto Falcone (Michael Zegen), Deirdre O’Connell (Francis Cobb), Eve Karlo (Carmen Ejogo), and Milos Grapa ( Band of Brothers alum James Madio), which gives us the impression of lot to expect of what’s in the store in the coming episodes. In the first episode, we witness both sides of Gotham City: the elite and rich community where Oz wants to establish himself and the poor community, which was affected by Riddler’s bombing in The Batman .

Talking about the performances, Colin Farrell steals the show in the titular role with his brilliant portrayal. Right from under-layered characterization to the simplest nuances without dialogues, he nails every frame with perfection. Milioti as Sofia is menacing, and intense and captures your attention right from her appearance on the screen.

Feliz makes a mark with a subdued and subtle performance. On the whole, The Penguin has taken a brilliant start with its episode and makes you eager to see what’s in the store. Rating: 3.
