The woman shared a photo of her orchid to a gardening group on Facebook. Orchid enthusiasts are recognising this striking plant as a staple in their homes, cherished for its lush, prolonged blooms and minimal care requirements. One particular orchid owner has made headlines within the gardening community after maintaining her houseplant's blossoms for an impressive four years.

A recent post on the Gardening UK Facebook group featured a proud display by Katherine Stone, who showcased her thriving orchid. The image revealed white flowers abundant and in full health, alongside flourishing foliage and roots. Katherine captioned her picture saying: "This is my beautiful orchid.

I've had it so long and it's kept flowering after four years." Curious about how she managed this horticultural feat, group members bombarded the comments seeking advice on nurturing their own orchids to achieve similar longevity, reports the Express . Laura Crooks was one such member, inquiring with admiration: "That's gorgeous, how do you keep it so happy? Mine is looking a bit droopy.

I spray the roots every day but they still look a bit dried up. Any tips?" To which Katrine advised that placement in the home is critical, sharing her personal strategy: "It may be because of where you're keeping your orchid. I keep mine in the living room.

I find it's the best place because it's got more indirect light in this room." Pam Roberts joined the conversation, expressing her preference for a conservatory environment for her orchids due to the abundant natural light, adding, "I have lots and the oldest is 15 years old and still flowering, love them." Chris Waters concurred with the conservatory method, affirming his success at cultivating orchids in a similar setting.

He revealed: "This has been flowering as it is since May. I've currently got four on this sill - the rest are in the conservatory on top of a bookshelf." Orchid specialists at Love Orchids have also offered advice on where to position these popular indoor plants.

They advised: "Be sure to place them in the sunniest room in your home with the most windows." "Remember to not place your orchid on any window sills that would put your plant in too much direct light, perhaps choose an east-facing window for optimal lighting.".
