The One Show presenter took to Instagram to share a video with fans, explaining that her husband Charlie Thompson had surprised her. Alex, 47, revealed Charlie , who she shares three children with, had mysteriously arrived home holding a "jumper in his hands", which turned out to be an adorable black puppy.
The TV star admitted it had taken her a "few days to process" having a new pet. "So I have a bit of news. On Monday night, and it's taking me a few days to process it, I came home here and Charlie was standing in the middle of the drive with what I thought was a jumper in his hands.
And then this black jumper moved," she told fans in the video. Alex went on to introduce her new dog. She revealed his name is Scout and told fans she "absolutely loves him".
She continued: "I got out of the car and I said, ‘Whose dog is that?’ And he said, ‘Ours’. We have a new arrival. Look, we have a new little baby.
This is Scout. Say hi. ‘Hi everybody, hello’.
He's 10 and a half weeks old. I absolutely love him. He's gorgeous.
" Dressed in denim shorts and a beige top, Alex could be seen picking Scout up and holding him. The pair stood in the garden of Alex and Charlie's enormous home as they basked in the sunshine. Alex shared the clip along with the caption: "Big news!!! There is a new addition to the family and it was a COMPLETE SURPRISE (thanks Charlie).
It was a huge shock but I’ve fallen head over heels with little Scout, we all have. The children’s faces were a picture!!! I’ve never had a dog before so any puppy advice would be most welcome." Fans and fellow celebs flocked to gush over Scout, with many offering advice to Alex.
One person wrote: "Every house needs a dog - you will love it," while a second added: "Awww hello scout what a cutie." "Omg what a beauty," someone else commented. A final fan added: "CUTE!!!!! Congratulations, best news ever! Enjoy the chaos and just be ready for your heart to explode many times over!" Alex and Charlie, who married in 2015, reside just outside of London, having opted to move to the countryside after 14 years of living in the capital city.
