It may go against the Geneva Convention and break even the toughest of soldiers, but most mums simply have no choice but to get up and function after a night of broken or no sleep, for a large chunk of their lives.

Even if you are lucky enough to have the best sleeping baby in the land, your precious sleep patterns will never quite go back to the way they were pre-children..
