The Mallorca Files has made a much-anticipated return, bringing with it a fresh slew of mysteries. Now streaming on Prime Video, the show stars Welsh actress Elen Rhys as British detective Miranda Blake and Julian Looman as her German counterpart Max Winter. In its latest outing, the series delivers eight episodes filled with arson, abduction, and murder investigations by the crime-fighting pair.

Fans are left to ponder whether the two detectives will realise they are more than detective partners and in fact an ideal romantic match. Throughout the new season, Max and Miranda's professional bond appears stronger than ever, yet there's an undeniable romantic tension simmering between them. This romantic angle also adds a layer of humour to the show with Max quipping he and his BMW make a great team.

But how does The Mallorca Files end this season and what happens to Max and Miranda? How does season 3 of The Mallorca Files end? As the third season wraps up, we see Max grappling with his girlfriend Carmen's departure from Mallorca for a new opportunity in Madrid. Carmen sets an ultimatum: "Six months - after that we're together forever or forever apart", reports the Express . Max clearly misses Carmen and faces a quandary over their future.

He often seeks Miranda's counsel, but the status of his relationship with Carmen remains ambiguous at the season's end. The chemistry between Max and Miranda has been escalating all season, culminating in a moment where Max's friend questions if Miranda is his girlfriend. Max and Miranda even went undercover as a couple, with Miranda suggesting a kiss to make their act more convincing.

However, before Max could respond, Miranda decided it was no longer necessary and walked away. Later in the series, Detective Benito Mancuso from Barcelona Police arrives on the island and forms a close bond with Miranda, much to Max's surprise and disappointment. These events culminate in episode eight "The Enemy Within", where an assassin targets a high-profile individual.

In the opening scenes of this episode, Max is shot by an unidentified figure at a party, leaving his fate uncertain. In the final episode, tensions rise between Max and Miranda, with Miranda criticising Max for his laid-back attitude towards their police work. Miranda deeply regrets her words when she sees Max injured on the ground.

She confronts the assassin, who is fatally wounded during the ensuing fight, leaving Miranda clinging to some ivy. Just as Miranda is about to fall, Max appears to rescue her. "I thought you were dead", Miranda exclaims.

Max reveals his bulletproof vest, showing he was unharmed. After the arrest of the judge, the detective pair share a heartfelt conversation, apologising for their earlier remarks. In a layered dialogue, Miranda asks: "I was wondering how it felt".

Discussing the shooting incident, Max reflected: "My life didn't play like a mini-movie. But if you're asking, did I realise what was important to me, I think so." A visibly moved Miranda then looked towards Max and added: "I think I did too.

I mean imagine the hell of trying to get used to a new partner". In response, Max said: "I honestly don't think you could do it. Finding someone to put up with your weird little ways.

" Startled by his comment, Miranda responded with incredulity: "My weird little ways? ". The scene warmed as Miranda slid closer to Max, revealing her bowl had been broken. A tender moment unfolded as they shared a smile, and she rested her head on his shoulder.

What is the future of Max and Miranda's relationship? This season may not have delivered the kiss that some fans eagerly anticipated, but there's a palpable sense of mutual regard, raising suspicions of a deeper romantic connection between them. Prior to the premiere of season three, actors Elen Rhys and Julian Looman hinted at their characters growing closer. Speaking to Express.

co.uk, Elen playfully commented, "Umm..

. give the people what they want! I mean, I love it that people are on their side and so behind that." Despite being known for their regular quarrels, the Welsh detective and her German colleague show substantial fondness for each other.

Fans are crossing their fingers in the hope for romance to blossom, but Elen suggests patience is necessary as their bond evolves into something more intimate. "I always feel like if they went there you'd probably lose the magic a little bit," she revealed, discussing the potential impact on the duo's dynamic. "It's like, you want them to get together but you want to want that, not for it actually to happen," Elen remarked about her on-screen relationship.

"It feels a bit like I don't really know where it would go after that," she added. "Not saying it's not possible, and it's definitely something to explore but for now I really kind of enjoy playing the will-they-won't they and I enjoy all the obstacles that come in because it gives you a tension, something to work against. It makes it more exciting.

" Meanwhile, her co-star Julian contributed: "Yeah, more exciting than seeing how they fight about who's cleaning their rooms and all that..".
