The Mallorca Files has made a grand comeback with its latest season, with more murder, kidnapping and conspiracies to investigate. On its new home on Prime Video, viewers can follow British detective Miranda Blake, portrayed by Elen Rhys, and her German colleague Max Winter, played by Julian Looman, as they dive into fresh cases involving arson, kidnapping, and even murder. The dynamic duo is back at it again and keep fans guessing if they will ever realise they are more than detective partners.

Throughout this new season, the chemistry between Max and Miranda only intensifies and often adds a sprinkle of humour to the series as they get closer in their professional ties. But how does The Mallorca Files end this season and what happens to Max and Miranda? How does Season 3 of The Mallorca Files end? In the final episode of The Mallorca Files Season 3, Max comes to terms with his girlfriend Carmen moving away from Mallorca to pursue a new career opportunity in Madrid. Carmen tells him: "Six months - after that we're together forever or forever apart".

With Carmen gone, Max grapples with missing her and what his heart truly desires, frequently seeking Miranda's advice, while their own relationship remains ambiguous. The tension between Max and Miranda grows, culminating in moments where Max's friends couldn't help but question if Miranda was more than just his partner on the police force. Max and Miranda even posed as a couple while going undercover and Miranda asked Max to kiss her to show they were a real couple.

Before Max can lean in, Miranda walks away and exclaims it's not necessary anymore. Later in the series, Detective Benito Mancuso of Barcelona Police visits the island and grows close to Miranda - much to Max's shock. All of these events come to a head in episode eight "The Enemy Within" where an assassin is trying to assassinate a high-profile figure.

In the opening of episode eight, Max is shot by an unknown figure during a party and his fate is unclear. Max and Miranda clashed heads during the final episode with Miranda accusing Max of being too laid back and not treating his police work as seriously as her. An emotional Miranda regrets these comments as she sees Max down on the ground.

Miranda fights the assassin and the assassin is fatally shot during the brawl and Miranda is left clinging onto some ivy. Just as Miranda is set to fall, Max arrives to pull her up and take her to safety. "I thought you were dead", Miranda remarks.

Max showed his bulletproof vest and was thankfully uninjured. After the judge was arrested, our detective duo shared a heart-to-heart and they both apologise for their previous comments. In a multi-layered conversation, Miranda asked: "I was wondering how it felt".

Discussing the intense events, Max shared: "My life didn't play like a mini-movie. But if you're asking, did I realise what was important to me, I think so." An emotional connection deepened as Miranda confessed to Max: "I think I did too.

I mean imagine the hell of trying to get used to a new partner". In response, Max humorously doubted: "I honestly don't think you could do it. Finding someone to put up with your weird little ways.

" Miranda, taken aback, queried: "My weird little ways?". In a sweet moment, Miranda slides over to Max, revealing her broken bowl, and they share a smile as she rests her head on his shoulder. What happens to Max and Miranda? While fans aren't treated to the romantic kiss they hope for this season, there is no mistaking the respect they share and the potential for love between Max and Miranda.

Ahead of season three, actors Elen Rhys and Julian Looman divulged details about the duo's dynamic to Express.co.uk, with Elen teasing: "Umm.

.. give the people what they want! I mean, I love it that people are on their side and so behind that.

" Despite the constant playful squabbles, its evident that the Welsh and German detectives harbour a substantial amount of fondness for each other. While audiences think they are the ideal couple, Elen suggests they may have to hold out a bit longer for a true romantic entanglement. Elen added: "I always feel like if they went there you'd probably lose the magic a little bit," implying a fear of diminishing their chemistry.

"It's like, you want them to get together but you want to want that, not for it to actually happen." "It feels a bit like I don't really know where it would go after that," Elen remarked. "Not saying it's not possible, and it's definitely something to explore but for now I really kind of enjoy playing the will-they-won't they and I enjoy all the obstacles that come in because it gives you a tension, something to work against.

It makes it more exciting." Julian also added his thoughts: "Yeah, more exciting than seeing how they fight about who's cleaning their rooms and all that..

".
