This airport is like no other, as its customers can easily reach three countries when leaving it. EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, also known as EuroAirport, is based in Alsace, France. However, the airport is located in what is called a "trinational Eurodistrict" where three countries overlap in one zone.
This means people, upon leaving the air hub, can head to cities in three different European nations - Basel in Switzerland, Mulhouse in France, or Freiburg in Germany. Arrivals at the airport are allowed to travel to two of the three countries without customs borders. The airport itself is split into two customs borders.
The airport welcomes four million passengers every year, who then move on to travel to other parts of Europe. Travelling to EuroAirport can be confusing as airlines may only show one of Basel, Freiburg and Mulhouse on the departure boards when displaying flight information. Basel, Freiburg, and Mulhouse are easy to get to once you reach the airport as taxis, buses, and trains are all available.
Flights out of EuroAirport are mostly short or medium-haul, flying to other parts of Europe. Some flights also go to destinations outside of Europe, such as Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Dubai, Israel , and Morocco. EuroAirport is also well-connected to other Swiss locations like Zurich and Geneva.
Basel airport can be reached by train and bus from Zurich in less than two hours, and from Geneva in just over three hours..
