A Greek god seeking better entertainment runs afoul of a group of talking frogs in Kalama High School's latest play, "The Frogs: A Modern Adaptation by Don Zolidis." The show runs 7 p.m.
Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Kalama High School Auditorium.
In this modern adaptation of the classic Greek satire by Aristophanes, the god Dionysus finds himself dissatisfied with modern television. In a suitably dramatic fashion for the God of Wine and Poetry, he opts to fix this by travelling into the underworld to retrieve William Shakespeare. But when Dionysus is captured by a group of demonic frogs that love reality TV, he must choose between infinite torment and bringing more reality shows to air.
"While the main cast are all veterans, much of the story is driven by the titular frogs, who are all middle school or freshman students. As such, a lot of growth has come about from this show," said Michael Ready, director of Kalama High School's drama program, in a press release. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for seniors or students with ASB.
