The First Descendant’s held onto a strong player base in the month since its release, but with a natural decline in numbers apparent, part of this lies in its grindy architecture. With XP and gold farming both having been topics of much debate within the community, players have called on Nexon “make farming EXP a bit less lengthy.” Luckily, the community has already offered a solution that makes fantastic sense.

“It’s tiring especially when we have to crystalise our Descendants at least six times to make a proper build,” writes one on . They continue to say that Nexon continues “nerfing the EXP exploits that [the community] finds,” which is only making it harder to continue grinding without having to commit to the hours needed to level. There’s enough complaints and discussion around The First Descendant’s issue with XP, though there’s rarely a scalable and sustainable solution offered.

Thankfully, Redditor u/shadowknight2112 offered a possible fix in the same thread. “I saw a suggestion to boost XP by something like 25% (or whatever) each time you use a catalyst. Probably one of the best ideas I’ve seen recently.

” While it’s not clear where this idea originated from initially, there’s no denying that it’s one of the most likely outcomes out of the debate. We know that Nexon has been pretty active in its decisions to incorporate feedback from its players, and has consistently offered opportunities for enhanced XP gain recently. Similarly, it implemented , alongside bringing balances to the exploit, proving that it’s keen to keep player retention.

With this in mind, there have been some rational responses to the possible solution; “Extremely likely they’ll go as high as +25% each time. 5, maybe 10 if they’re feeling generous,” u/feelin_fine_ writes. They continue: “They want you to spend all day playing this game.

All balance changes have never reduced the time we spend farming.” This was refuted by another community member, who said “[the community] spend 4 less minutes now per outpost for Amorphous and other materials,” in light of recent updates. If Nexon was to incorporate this update into The First Descendant, it would mean that players wouldn’t need to be locked into the game for as many long hours as they are, which is the likeliest reason why we’ll see little change to XP rates in-game.

One of the main factors that Live Service games need is sheer playtime. Without up-front sales, TFD relies entirely on microtransactions to keep the wheels spinning. Amaar loves retro hardware and boring games with more words than action.
