The First Descendant’s developers – Nexon – have came under fire recently for an apparent back-track on the Valby-Run playstyle. It had previously said that there was going to be “ ” to the game, one of which was going to acknowledge the “Valby Run; Strategic Outpost farming using Valby, which is currently taking place at the Outpost within The Fortress.” Despite committing to not removing the strategy out-right, Nexon had said that it was committed to “preparing a patch that will update other farming locations to match the efficient, equivalent to The Fortress Outpost.

” This sounded like fantastic news – instead of patching the exploit, other locations will be updated to reflect as such. Well, it turns out this was a translation issue. “We apologize for the confusion caused by the misinterpretation during the translation process of the original Korean text,” it said in a “There have been no reversals of decisions”, but rather that there was a miscommunication on the original statement.

Rather than adjusting other Outposts to reflect a buffed farming rate, they will “update the Fortress – Vulgus Strategic Outpost to match the efficiency of other farming locations.” Essentially, the Valby Run strategy will be rendered obsolete thanks to updated drop rates. People have justly.

“The issue here is your gold & XP economy. So many things require gold to be spent in large quantities, with no activities providing enough gold in proportion.” Redditors have said that “we were in fact heard,” which is a disappointing resolution; especially after Nexon has previously been so receptive to community feedback recently.

Essentially, the issue with this is not that there’s inefficiency with farming specifically at certain outposts, but rather than the game as a whole makes it incredibly difficult to earn gold and XP. If Nexon are truly listening, then patching individual exploits isn’t what they need to do, but listen to the exploit intentions, and figure out how to make the game much more fun to play at all times.
