The newly revealed high-performance Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is the latest vehicle to be offered with carbon-fibre wheels produced by Australian company Carbon Revolution. These optional one-piece carbon-fibre wheels are claimed to be “significantly lighter” than the regular aluminium option, reducing rotating unsprung mass by 19.4kg.

The Corvette ZR1 ‘s 10-spoke carbon-fibre wheels measure 20 inches by 10 inches at the front and 21 inches and 13 inches at the rear. Carbon Revolution claims the Corvette ZR1’s rear wheels are the world’s widest carbon-fibre wheels. The Geelong-based company produces these carbon-fibre wheels on its so-called Mega-line.



The ZR1 is now the third Corvette model, following the Z06 and E-Ray, to offer Carbon Revolution carbon-fibre wheels. Carbon Revolution also makes carbon-fibre wheels for a range of Ferrari models including the SF90 , 296 GTB , F8 Tributo , and 812 Competizione . Other vehicles available with Carbon Revolution carbon-fibre wheels include the Range Rover Sport SV and Ford Mustang Dark Horse .

As recently reported , the Corvette ZR1 is the most powerful version of General Motors’ flagship sports car to date. It packs a twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre double overhead cam flat-plane crank V8 engine called the LT7, which GM says is based on the LT6 in the Corvette Z06.
