Lambert, who runs Discover Dogs , added: "Each breed has distinct characteristics, traits and care needs. It is quite striking to see how many people unconsciously select dog breeds with personalities that match their own character.

" Take a Jack Russell, for example, whose owners are thought to be loyal, helpful, friendly and good listeners. People who own Cocker Spaniels, on the other hand, rated themselves highly on curiosity and being family orientated. Those who have a Springer Spaniel are regarded as the most traditional, reserved and punctual people.



And Border Terrier owners are seen as the most charming, lively and exuberant of personalities. Meanwhile, Cocker Spaniel owners are the most creative and family-orientated while people who favour the Staffordshire Bull Terrier are the most affectionate. People who preferred the Miniature Schnauzer are seen as the most loyal and faithful.
