AerClub is the loyalty program of Aer Lingus. It is one of several programs that use Avios as a loyalty currency. The other airlines to use Avios are one world member airlines British Airways, Iberia, Qatar Airways, and Finnair plus Vueling.



Avios can be earned in many ways. The most obvious is from flying. All flights with Aer Lingus earn Avios based on the ticket price.

Avios can also be earned from flights with British Airways and, unusually, Star Alliance member United Airlines. There are also co-branded credit cards for the Irish and US markets and a comprehensive shopping portal offering earning opportunities. Earning Avios from Aer Lingus flights For members of AerClub, the most obvious way to earn Avios is from flights.

Avios are earned on all Aer Lingus flights based on the ticket price. AerClub is one of many loyalty programs that has moved to a revenue-based rather than distance-based earning system, at least for its own flights. These are generally seen as less rewarding, especially for economy class and low-priced tickets.

The Avios earned are based on the ticket price and currency as follows: 1 Euro (EUR) earns 3 Avios 1 British Pound (GBP) earns 4 Avios 1 US Dollar (USD) earns 3 Avios 1 Canadian Dollar (CAD) earns 2 Avios Note the following about earning Avios on Aer Lingus flights: Avios are earned on the base fare only - excluding government taxes and any ancillaries. Currencies other than EUR, GBP, USD, and CAD will be converted to EUR. Silver, Platinum, and Concierge members receive Avios bonuses on Aer Lingus flights as an elite benefit.

It used to be a member of one world (from 1999 to 2007) and is part of IAG (with British Airways and Iberia). Without alliance membership, there is no widespread earnings globally as you find with other airlines. The relationship with United Airlines offers an unusual chance to credit United Airlines flights outside of the Star Alliance. With both of these airlines, Avios can be earned based on the flight distance and booking code. This varies from 25% in discount economy (although some of the lowest booking codes do not earn at all) up to 300% in full-fare first class with British Airways.

For tickets involving Aer Lingus and a partner airline, mileage is awarded for each flight based on the appropriate method. It is now common for many programs to earn significant rewards through credit card use.

Cards can also offer credit towards elite status and benefits when traveling. Three such cards are offered through Chase Bank. With Aer Lingus, there are two co-branded credit cards offered.

These are available for residents of Ireland and the US only – there are no co-branded cards in other markets. AerClub is a transfer partner of American Express Membership Rewards and Chase Ultimate Rewards, so you can earn money in these programs and transfer to AerClub. The Aer Credit Card is offered in partnership with Bank of Ireland, for Irish residents only.

This offers good travel benefits, including two lounge passes and two fast track passes per year, annual travel insurance, and two free European tickets when you spend Euro 5,000 in a year. It earns Avios as follows: One Avios for every Euro you spend with Aer Lingus One Avios for every four Euros on all other spending. Note that this Bank of Ireland credit card offering is set to be completely refurbished in October 2024.

The benefits will be significantly changed, with promised benefits that include: An improved earning rate of one Avios for every three Euros spent. Removal of the free flight offer, but adding an annual bonus of 40,000 Avios after spending €10,000 ($10,932) in the membership year. From January 2025, there will be a new sign-up bonus of 5,000 Avios after spending Euro 3,000 in the first three months.

The Irish flag carrier is introducing a 40,000 Avios annual bonus and launching flights to Seville, Malta, and Marrakesh in October. The Aer Lingus Visa Signature Credit Card is for US residents . It also offers travel benefits, including priority boarding (on flights from or to the US) and companion tickets (for flights between Ireland and the US) when you spend $30,000 annually.

It earns Avios as follows: A bonus of 75,000 Avios after you spend $5,000 within the first three months of account opening, and an additional 25,000 Avios after you spend $20,000 total within the first 12 months. Three Avios per $1 spent on flight purchases with Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia, and LEVEL. Two Avios per $1 spent with hotels.

One Avios per $1 on all other spending. Earning Avios through other travel and retail spending As with most loyalty programs, AerClub has several other ways you can earn Avios through spending. It does not have the extensive hotel and car hire earning networks that some larger loyalty programs offer.

Earning his way is handled through the AerClub eStore. There are many options here for earning at travel outlets, as well as retail options. This works by following eStore links to make online purchases.
