THE CHIC LIST: Why this £55 see-through M&S skirt is on my autumn wish list By Joanne Hegarty For You Magazine Published: 03:01 EDT, 28 September 2024 | Updated: 03:01 EDT, 28 September 2024 e-mail No matter what your style or body shape, this year’s bold trend of sheer blouses and skirts is fun, flirty and much easier to pull off than you might imagine. I prefer to think of them more as a menu of exciting changes, the industry’s creative strokes, and we are free to pick and choose any that take our fancy. Admittedly, while I’m always open to new looks, I do tend to dress on the more conservative side, so when a deluge of ethereal sheer pieces started appearing on this year’s catwalks – with designers including Prada, Altuzarra, Bevza and Jil Sander bringing into play everything from sheer overlay dresses to minimalist see-through blouses – there’s no denying it, I felt slightly intimidated.
Could I master this daring trend? Did I even want to? The answer, it turns out, is a big ‘yes’ as, I’ve since discovered, wear sheer once and you will feel your body confidence soar. The key to success is all in the styling, with the likes of Miu Miu showing us that.
