Ghanaian musician Dr Cryme, renowned for his signature cap-wearing style, has shared insights into why the accessory is integral to his identity. In a recent interview with Property FM, the rapper and songwriter, whose real name is Darlington Kwesi Agyekum, he explained that his attachment to wearing a cap is deeply personal. Dr Cryme revealed that wearing a cap has become such a crucial part of his daily attire that he feels incomplete without it.

“I would say that wearing a cap is part of me to the extent that I feel incomplete if I should dress without putting on a cap or if I have to walk around without it,” he said. He noted that it is rare to see him without a cap, and when it does happen, it is usually because he has given it away as a gift. His wardrobe features a diverse collection of caps, reflecting various styles and colours, which he changes daily.

“Constantly, every single day, I wear different kinds and colours of caps, and so far as I’m still alive, there is no way I would ever stop wearing a cap when I dress,” he emphasized. Addressing speculation about his choice to wear caps, Dr Cryme dismissed rumours suggesting that his cap-wearing might be an effort to conceal a bald head. He clarified that he has been braiding his hair since the beginning of his music career, and it is now quite long.

Dr Cryme’s distinctive style has become a defining feature of his public persona, and he remains committed to his signature look as a critical element of his personal and professional identity..
