EXCLUSIVE The Block tradies unmask the 2024 season's villain and admit it was the most 'hectic' yet for hiring and firing - as their shocking salaries are leaked READ MORE: Scott Cam reportedly not happy with one Block pairing's diva antics By Kate Dennett For Daily Mail Australia Published: 00:57, 24 August 2024 | Updated: 01:03, 24 August 2024 e-mail View comments The Block's tradies have revealed who the 2024 season villain is and shed a light on their shocking salaries. The 20th anniversary season of the Channel Nine competition kicked off earlier this month, with the teams each taking on a huge renovation project on Phillip Island. However, it was not all smooth-sailing and the show has brought its usual dose of drama, with an insider hinting at tension behind the scenes between the cast and their tradies.

Daily Mail Australia can confirm that houses one, two and three all kick off their tradies, with it being the 'most hectic' season yet for people getting fired and re-hired. While every team had their difficulties, it has been claimed that house two's Grant was the 'villain' of the 2024 series, according to one workman. The claims come recent scenes saw Grant and his wife Courtney clashing with their builders in a tense altercation over time management and costs.

One builder confirmed he 'hated' working with Grant, telling Daily Mail Australia: 'Courtney and Grant were pretty cut throat during their time in Phillip Island.' 'It is fair to say that every house has their ''villain'', with the girls admitting themselves that the 2024 season has a certain type of power dynamic in terms of the way they assert themselves,' they added. 'The tradies this year will tell you that House One (Paige and Jesse), House Two (Courtney and Grant) and House Three (Ricky and Haydn) were the most difficult to work with,' they claimed. 'There were ongoing issues throughout those builds in Phillip Island. With tradesmen pointing out "poor communication and some childish behaviour".

' 'The builders were treated quite poorly and you could tell it affected the mood on set,' they added. One tradie claimed the workmen mostly walked away 'disappointed' with their experiences on the show and shed light into exactly how much they are paid. It was claimed they have a set wage which is agreed on at the start of every season, with experienced builders earning $75 per hour this year while apprentices worked for as low as $25 per hour.

Builders are believed to pay for their own travel and accommodation to be on the show, with some reporting that it actually costs them money to be there. They can work six days a week and be on task for 12-hour days, with 'tools down' usually falling at 6pm, with some earlier finishes at 4pm due to council restrictions. A long-standing producer also confirmed that the tradesmen were forced to deal with 'poor communication and some childish behaviour' across the board (pictured: Jesse and Paige) Ricky and Hayden were also cited among the contestants who were most difficult to work with, after it was claimed host Scotty Cam was not happy with their 'diva antics' It was also claimed that builders are not allowed to be tagged in social media posts, meaning their businesses are getting 'less exposure than in previous seasons'.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel Nine for comment. The bombshell claims come after Grant was seen having a tense altercation with his builders during a recent episode as they clashed over time management. Grant and his wife Courtney hired four tradies rather than the usual two and were left fuming over 'consistent delays' to their project.

the consistent delays has then turned into us paying for plasterers that are waiting to be here,' Grant told Foreman Dan. 'I've got to the point of going, ''This is when you promised, this is when they started, this is the delay and this is what's coming out of you bill''.' An enraged Grant told the builders that he wouldn't be paying their invoice when it came in $15,000 over budget as he fumed they weren't as productive as the smaller teams.

The tradies said they would volunteer two men for the day of work if Grant didn't want to pay as he insisted his refusal wasn't about the money, but their delays. The builders told how they would stay to get the job done as Grant walked off the site fuming in the very tense moment.
