This year’s crazy new foods at The Big E include a revamped behemoth version of the Craz-E Burger , a Taylor Swift cocktail and a sundae that I can only describe as a “Smurf ice cream treasure hunt.” With the 2024 Big E just around the corner (starting Sept. 13), media got a sneak peek at the new foods that will be at the fair this year.

Here’s a rundown of what we saw, what we tried and what else to expect at The Big E. The new Craz-E Burger rolled in Flamin' Hot Cheetos. Media got a sneak peak at some of the new foods at The Big E in 2024.



(Nick O'Malley, MassLive) The (new) Craz-E Burger | Now at The Emporium in the Better Living Center The Craz-E Burger has been re-imagined and improved in every way. Under new management, the burger has upgraded from one doughnut to two. The new version includes a glazed yeasted doughnut and a plain cake doughnut as the “bun.

” Inside, you get a smash burger topped with cheese, bacon and onion rings. As you can see above, there’s also a version that’s rolled in Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. And there’s an insane double-burger version.

This one is best described as a “Smurf ice cream treasure hunt.” It’s a soft-serve sundae in a waffle bowl topped with blue-raspberry magic shell. Inside, there’s a treasure trove of wonderful toppings like peanut butter cups and hot fudge.

Cornbread Sundae from Moolicious on Springfield Road and West Road Corn and ice cream? It’s better than you might think. This sundae features cornbread topped with sweet corn ice cream, hot honey, whipped cream and Corn Pops cereal. It kind of takes like Corn Pops cereal milk.

Tacos are great. So are empanadas. However, I’d never seen the two combined until this moment.

The fusion is a revelation. The savory, crispy empanada adds a whole new delicious spin on what is already a good taco. Birria Tacos from Macho Taco on Commonwealth Ave.

It’s a shredded beef taco inside a taco that has caramelized cheese on the outside. It also comes with from on the side for dipping. If you haven’t had this type of taco yet, you’re missing out.

This year, they’re going Swiftie with a nod one of Taylor Swift’s songs. The drink is a crisp, refreshing lavender-lemonade combo. It’s a nice way to cool off after a hot, cruel summer.

But I’m hearing that they’ll also have deep-fried deviled eggs at the fair. Crab dip from Storrowton Tavern Soup Shack on the Avenue of States. Media got a sneak peak at some of the new foods at The Big E in 2024.

I could eat a salad bowl full of this. Blackened Chicken Macaroni & Cheese from Storrowton Tavern Soup Shack on the Avenue of States Is this a bit hot and heavy for the summer? Probably. Is it absolutely delicious with a nice little kick to break up all the carbs? Also yes.

I’m still struggling to grasp the gargantuan nature of this shrimp. It’s massive. It’s also delicious.

But also — wow — that’s some big shrimp. A Maple Cremee Cannoli from Ferrindino Maple at the Better Living Center & Springfield Road. Media got a sneak peak at some of the new foods at The Big E in 2024.

Fortunately, this is a cool change on a familiar formula. Here, we have a cannoli shell filled with Maple Creemee soft serve ice cream and topped with powdered sugar and maple syrup.

(Nick O'Malley, MassLive) Chocolate Chip Cookie Croissant from The Mick Express in the Young Building Chocolate Chip Cookie Croissants are a trend that’s picked up on social media.

They’re delicious, so it’s no surprise. What you get here is a unique case of French baking inception as you get layers of butter and sugar and chocolate. The Polish Godfather from The Mick Express in the Young Building Do you like kielbasa and mustard? Then do I have a sandwich for you.

It’s seared kielbasa with peppers, onions and mustard on a chewy pretzel roll. The new Cookies & Cream Cream Puff from The Big E Bakery. Media got a sneak peak at some of the new foods at The Big E in 2024.

(Nick O'Malley, MassLive) New Cream Puff Flavor: Cookies & Cream from the Big E Bakery (Multiple Locations) The Big E is changing up their specialty Cream Puff flavor again. This year, it’s Cookies & Cream, featuring delicious Oreo bits in the familiar fluffy sweet cloud of filling. Apple Cider Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese from Sam Adams Beer Garden on the Avenue of States This one caught me off guard with how delicious it is.

At first, it just looks like pulled pork on grilled sandwich bread. But when you take a bite, you get this beautiful wave of sweet apple flavor, a mix between apple pie and pulled pork. Chicken Etouffee' from NOLA Cajun Kitchen and Raw Bar on New England Ave.

All you need to know is that it’s delicious, featuring a blast of wonderfully spicy-savory flavor. It’s as pure a rush of Cajun flavor as you’re going to see around these parts. Crispy Crab Cakes with Corn and Black Bean Salsa with Cajun Remoulade Again, not everything on this list is exotic or crazy.

In this case, we’ve got some delightful crab cakes. Supreme Schnitzel Sandy from Wurst Haus on Commonwealth Ave. Technically, this is a schnitzel sandwich with beer cheese and bacon crumbles on a pretzel bun.

But that description does not capture the sheer magnitude of the pork cutlet that come on this sandwich. It’s the size of a Frisbee! Limited Edition Caramel Apple Cider from Downeast Cider Garden outside the Young Building It’s a smooth, sweet, delicious spin on hard cider. It’s a great alternative to beer on a hot day.

More foods at The Big E While those are all the foods we got to try at The Big E’s preview event this year, they’re not the only new foods coming to the largest fair in New England. Here’s a list of other foods The Big E has revealed as part of this year’s food lineup: Dragons Breath in the Young Building – I don’t know what this is, but it’s described as “Nitro Ice Cream Swirls, Dragon Breath Puffs and a variety of delectable sauces and toppings.” White Hut in the Food Court – The longtime West Springfield restaurant is making a burger you can’t refuse.

It’s the Quad Father Burger, which features four cheeseburger patties, four strips of bacon, pickles, house sauce and their fried onions. Pickle Fries on East Road – A new offering this year: Pickle Fries with Cheese n’ Gravy. They also have a Vegetarian Corndog and Corn Ribs.

Macho Taco on Commonwealth Avenue – Even more Mexican foods, including Birria Raman, Mexican inspired Arepas, Horchata Agua Fresca and Watermelon Agua Fresca. W.A.

V.E. Mocktail Cart in The Front Porch – Alcohol-free drinks, including Kiwi Seltzer, P.

O.G Juice, Virgin Mojito, 0.0% Spicy Margarita and Shirley Temple.

Dole Whip on West Road – Including Pineapple, Lemon, Strawberry, Mango Flavors. NOLA Cajun Kitchen and Raw Bar on New England Avenue – Even more New Orleans-inspired options, including Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Jambalaya, Beignets and Bread Pudding. Dribbles in the Better Living Center – Coffee and doughnuts, which come with a choice of sauces.

The Nook in the Better Living Center – Sweet crepes like strawberry, banana and Nutella. There are also savory crapes, like ham and cheese. The Cantina in the Better Living Center – Keep an eye out for margaritas served with cotton candy on top.

Schroder Concessions, Commonwealth Avenue – They’ve got a rotating selection of cheese curd flavors, including in garlic, ranch, dill, jalapeño and Cajun. Meatball Factory on the Avenue of States – They’ve got a Korean Corn Dog. LuAnn’s Bakery on New England Avenue – Their new specialty flavor this year is a Maple Bacon Cupcake.

Deliplace on East Road – They don’t just have a Bloomin’ Onion. They have a Loaded Blooming Onion Ring Cha Feo in the Young Building – They have a “Mochinut,” which is a chewy Japanese mochi doughnut. Cinnamon Saloon on Hampden Avenue – They’ve added Cherry and Apple Turnovers to their lineup.

Jungle Juice Smoothies on Commonwealth Avenue – Their new offerings include “Luxury hot chocolate.” Las Kangris in the Young Building – They’ve got multiple versions of Puerto Rican Flan, including vanilla, cheese and piña colada. Old Country Style Bavarian Nuts on New England Avenue – They’ve got drinks as well, including a new Mint Maple Iced Tea.

Veggie Patch on Commonwealth Avenue – The press release just says, “Pickle Juice.” I don’t have any details beyond that. Deluca Family Foods on New England Avenue – We’re going back to state fair roots with a Deep-Fried Ice Cream Sandwich.

Hot Wisconsin Cheese on Springfield Road – They’re joining the fun by offering The Big Mozz, a giant mozzarella stick. Deep Fried Tacos on East Road – In addition to the tacos, they now have Mexican Rice Bowls. Poutine Gourmet on Springfield Road – New poutine options include Buffalo chicken.

Ultimate BBQ in the Food Court – They now have Burnt Bacon Ends. They also have Burnt Bacon Ends covered in Chocolate. The Boot Scootin’ Saloon at Dolly’s Honky Tonk, Industrial Avenue – Yee-haw! You can expect Pickled Eggs, Pickled Kielbasa and “Cowboy Nachos.

” The Indian Restaurant in the Food Court – They have a new dessert, Gulab Jamun. It’s a traditional Indian dessert made from fried dough balls in flavored syrup. International Lobster House on West Road – They’re now offering tater tots with your choice of toppings.

You could go with lobster. Or you could go with pulled pork, bacon and cheese — or even something they’re calling “Jackalope Sausage.” The Clam Box in the Food Court – They’re going big with new shellfish options, including Lobster Bisque, Fried Oysters and Oyster Tacos with Chipotle Coleslaw.

Hofbrahaus Bier Garden in the Food Court – Want something hearty? Come here, they’ve got Goulash Stew. The Hub on New England Avenue – They’re offering a Cajun Burger, which has a chorizo patty and beef patty and is topped with American cheese, grilled onions and remoulade. Kora’s Cookie Dough on Hampden Avenue – They’ve got a new cookie dough flavor: Birthday Cake Cookie Dough on a Stick.

Fluffy’s Hand-Cut Donuts on New England Avenue – Need a pick me up? Try the Iced Coffee Glazed Donut Float, which has a “doughnut rim,” vanilla ice cream and a doughnut hole. Empanada Trailer on Industrial Road – It should not shock you that they have empanadas. But in addition to savory flavors, they have sweet empanadas, like Nutella and Dulce De Lecce.

Top The Crust in the Food Court – New pizza this year: Crab Rangoon Pizza. Apple Fries on West Road – Their new apple-fries creation is a sundae with peanut butter, bacon and caramel. More from The Big E.
