Home to some of the most sought-after cities in the world, Europe has no shortage of places to live for those who enjoy an urban life. But those living in the UK already might not need to look further than a few hours' train journey to reach the most desirable city on the continent. A recent study has revealed that the best city in Europe to live in is right here in Britain.

The capital city excelled in the study's liveability , lovability and prosperity rankings, clinching the top spot in the restaurant and startup categories. According to an Economist study, London boasts some of the highest rents relative to wages worldwide.

The Charitable Foundation Trust found that the average rent for a one-bedroom property consumes nearly half of the average Londoner's salary. Add to that complaints about early closures of bars and nightclubs, many would argue that London is far from being a 24/7 city. However, despite these drawbacks, Resonance Capital suggests that the capital has become significantly more appealing to tourists.
