If you're looking to kickstart your 2025, why not hop on the Tube and discover a little-used route along the River Thames . With sprawling wildlife gardens, easy hills and important statues, this walk from Bermondsey to Brockley is a great way to tick off those 10,000 steps. Clocking in at around 6 miles, the winding path is perfect for anyone looking to connect with nature without leaving the city.

The start point - Bermondsey Beach - also couldn't be easier to find as it's less than 10 minutes from Bermondsey Underground station. From there, you'll head eastward towards the bronze Salter family sculpture nestled between The Angel pub and remains of King Edward III's manor house. Next up is a wander through Rotherhithe, where you can take in the quaint 470-year-old Mayflower pub and pretty Brunel Museum . For just £12, you can visit the latter and learn about the construction of the Thames Tunnel - an ideal day out for the history buffs! The next stop is the Russia Dock Woodland, where you can climb Stave Hill and look out across the Canary Wharf skyline. The area also boasts an ecology park complete with grasslands, herbs, shrubs and wetlands.

There's a good chance you'll spot hoverflies, butterflies, beetles and even a kingfisher. Heading back towards the River Thames, you'll pass by the Drake Steps, erected in honour of Sir Francis' successful c.
