The first Monday in May is a long time away — but that's not stopping Vogue from revealing the plan for the 2025 Met Gala . Now, you may or may not know that every year's Met Gala theme is specifically tied to the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute's Spring exhibition. The Spring 2025 exhibition — and, by extension, the overarching theme of the 2025 Met Gala — is Superfine: Tailoring Black Style .
The exhibit is inspired by Barnard Professor of Africana Studies Monica L. Miller's 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity . According to Vogue, the museum will highlight "garments, paintings, photographs, and more — all exploring the indelible style of Black men in the context of dandyism, from the 18th-century through present day.
" As Marie Claire points out, it's the first-ever exhibit to highlight dandyism and the influence on style that Black men have held. As for the Met Gala chairs: Of course, you've got Vogue head honcho Anna Wintour ..
