Princess Isabella is the firstborn daughter of King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark and at just 17 years old, it's already obvious that she's on her way to becoming a very influential young royal. She made history from the moment she was born and is becoming a royal style icon before she's even hit 20, so there's no doubt this princess has big things ahead of her. Keep reading to see how she changed the Danish monarchy forever as a baby and all she's achieved since.

Born at 4.02pm on April 21, 2007, Princess Isabella was the second child and first daughter for then-Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, making her third in line to the throne. From her very first days, Isabella was special.

On April 22, the day after her arrival, Danish buses and official buildings flag the national flag and a 21-gun salute was fired at Holmen Naval Base in the Port of Copenhagen and from Kronborg Castle to celebrate the princess' birth. It was the first time in Danish royal history that a princess had been honoured with a 21-gun salute, as prior to Isabella's birth only royal sons received one. Daughters, on the other hand, received a 17-gun salute.

The decision to change the tradition and fire a 21-gun salute for all royal children regardless of sex was made way back in 2005, before Isabella's older brother Prince Christian was born. Just a few months after she was born, Isabella was christened in a ceremony at the Royal Chapel of Fredensborg Palace on July 1. .
