If you didn’t have to spend this morning unloading the dishwasher, putting everything away and trying to get your house back in order after hosting yesterday’s Thanksgiving dinner, think of what a nice morning you could have had. You could have taken advantage of Black Friday deals or simply slept in like I did. My husband and I took my mom to Ember & Rye at Park Hyatt Aviara for Thanksgiving and spent two and a half glorious (and gluttonous) hours sampling everything from turkey and stuffing to sushi and omelets while admiring the stunning Southern California views.

After a hard year, it was the perfect way to remember we had so much to be grateful for. Over the years, my family and I have often celebrated Thanksgiving at one of the holiday buffets in San Diego, where we could each have what we wanted and we could just enjoy each other’s company rather than worrying about shopping, cooking and cleaning. Although we sometimes tried new places, we always came back to Park Hyatt Aviara in Carlsbad because the food was so good.



So, when our kids couldn’t come home for Thanksgiving this year, it was a no-brainer that we would spend the holiday there. Ember & Rye Created by celebrity chef Richard Blais (the James Beard nominated cookbook author who was the first winner of Top Chefs All-Stars and now stars with Gordon Ramsay on Next Level Chef ), Ember & Rye overlooks the 18 th green of the Arnold Palmer-designed Aviara Golf Club.
