I love growing and cutting fresh flowers for the house, so I admit I’ve always been a little bit sceptical about faux flowers. I can still envision a threadbare fake bridal bouquet from my childhood dressing-up box. Dusty and bedraggled, it bore absolutely no resemblance to the vibrant flowers in our garden.

So it’s been interesting to watch the rise of faux flowers over the past few years, and it’s fair to say that the best blooms are now not only enticing but also convincing. Neptune has some beautiful examples. If you get a chance, do have a browse in store — the product range is set up like a little florist’s stall.

Or Ett Hem London sells high-quality “forever flowers” online, available as single.
