Monday, August 19, 2024 The introduction of a new direct flight route between Kuala Lumpur and Chiang Mai is anticipated to significantly impact Thailand’s tourism sector, with expectations that it will contribute to attracting over 5 million Malaysian visitors to the country this year. On August 15, Malaysia Airlines commenced flight MH772, a direct service from Kuala Lumpur to Chiang Mai.

According to Thai authorities, a substantial 80 percent of Malaysian tourists visiting Thailand are independent travelers, with 69 percent having visited the country multiple times.
