Saturday, October 5, 2024 Thai Minister of Tourism and Sports, Sorawong Thienthong, along with senior officials, recently convened a strategic meeting to enhance Thailand’s global standing as a premier destination. The discussion involved representatives from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), including 29 international and 45 domestic offices, and centered on revitalizing tourism growth. Minister Thienthong highlighted the Ignite Thailand Tourism initiative, aiming to boost economic development, encourage private sector participation, and build investor confidence in the tourism sector.
The ministry is focusing on developing artificial attractions and securing major global events to establish Thailand as a leading entertainment destination. The One Map Tourism project is set to drive exploration across all provinces, promoting a variety of tourist segments while ensuring that pricing aligns with the quality of offerings. Additionally, the ministry is prioritizing sports tourism and collaborating with airlines and private companies to restore flight capacity, with a specific focus on increasing routes to lesser-known cities.
