Tuesday, January 21, 2025 In January 2025, Sompo Insurance Thailand partnered with Collinson International, a leader in providing global airport experiences, to introduce a new service designed to alleviate the stress of flight disruptions for its policyholders. This collaboration, named Sompo Smart Delay, provides travelers in Thailand with instant access to more than 1,600 airport lounges and other travel experiences in the event of a flight delay. This initiative aims to enhance the overall travel experience by reducing the stress associated with flight disruptions, particularly in an era where delayed flights have become a common inconvenience.

Travel disruptions, especially delays, have always been a major source of stress for travelers. Recent statistics show that by June 2024, 33 million travelers across Asia Pacific were affected by flight delays lasting over an hour. For many passengers, pre-flight issues can cause lasting anxiety, a phenomenon known as “Fear of Switching Off” (FOSO).



This stress often continues throughout the trip, diminishing the overall travel experience. As travel is one of the highest spending categories for consumers in Asia Pacific—accounting for nearly one-third of their annual expenditure—there exists a significant opportunity for businesses to enhance customer relationships by addressing these pain points.
