Wednesday, January 8, 2025 Thailand declares 2025 as the year of tourism and sports, unveiling a grand campaign to attract 40M visitors and boost revenue through events and exclusivity. Thailand is gearing up to make 2025 a landmark year for tourism and sports, aiming to attract global visitors, high-spending travelers, and sports enthusiasts. The ambitious initiative, spearheaded by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, highlights the kingdom’s commitment to boosting its tourism sector and positioning itself as a world-class destination.

Last week, the TAT unveiled the “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism & Sports Year 2025” campaign, targeting an impressive 40 million foreign visitors and 2.8 trillion baht in tourism revenue. The campaign underscores Thailand’s focus on creating an all-encompassing travel and sports experience, appealing to diverse audiences worldwide.

Jirawadee Khunsap, TAT’s deputy governor for products and tourism business, emphasized the importance of sports tourism as one of four key niche markets being prioritized. The other niche categories include health, luxury, and romance tourism—all aimed at attracting high-spending travelers who, on average, spend 80,000 baht per trip. Jirawadee shared that in the short term, spanning 1-3 years, the TAT will concentrate on hosting exclusive events, including sports tournaments, music festivals, and concerts, to maintain a competitive edge in global tourism.
