Cities in Mauritius, South Africa, and Morocco, in particular, have seen a growing number of their citizens choosing Thailand for holidays. The introduction of the ETA system will initially be a pilot program starting December 1, 2024, and is expected to be fully operational by June 2025.
The entire process will be conducted online through Thailand’s official e-Visa portal, and the ETA will be provided at no cost to travelers. The ETA will allow a single entry into Thailand and be valid for up to 60 days. Visitors who wish to extend their stay can apply for a one-time extension of 30 days without having to leave the country.
This flexibility makes it easier for tourists to enjoy a longer stay without facing the hassle of reapplying or traveling back and forth.
