WAKE VILLAGE, Texas – A man from Leander, Texas, who was accused of escaping from the Texarkana Federal Correctional Institution in April was indicted on Thursday. Matthew Kite was serving a sentence of almost six years for his role in a South Texas methamphetamine trafficking organization, according to court records. Kite allegedly escaped on April 24 of this year and would have finished serving the drug offense in April of next year.

But, if convicted of escape, he faces up to five additional years behind bars. Kite also is facing a possible fine of up to $250,000. According to the Bureau of Prisons website, he is currently in a federal lockup in San Antonio.
