Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath govt is set to initiate a comprehensive survey and mapping of Rihand Dam in Pipri, Sonbhadra, to identify and assess above-water and underwater cracks. The project will employ advanced technology , including remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and underwater drones , to ensure a thorough evaluation of the dam’s existing condition. Uttar Pradesh Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd, a subsidiary of the state’s power generation company, has commenced the process of appointing an agency to undertake this crucial task.

The selected agency will be responsible for conducting videography of 35,000 sqm riverbed area using 2D and 3D data capturing technology. The data will be used to prepare a detailed project report later. The survey is expected to be completed within three months of the agency’s selection with an estimated budget of Rs 76.
