I've been collecting records for donkeys years, but I'll be quick to admit that I have never owned a turntable that truly does the music, etched magically into polyvinyl chloride, justice. That is all about to change, thanks to this affordable and snazzy piece of kit. Victrola's new automatic turntable, which also has Bluetooth support and will be available from Argos , Very , Simply Sound and Vision, and Amazon , has arrived at the perfect time.

Giving a new copy of Tame Impala's 2010 album Innerspeaker a whirl last week I stood wincing in agony - the player I had relied on for 10 years had finally given up the ghost. My old turntable had began to jump around at the beginning of records, and the sound I had accepted for years was now undeniably distorted. This new turntable, which has hit shopping websites this month, is a breath of sonic fresh air.

The lightweight turntable arrived impeccably packaged, with every component buffered from shipping damage. It made the opening of the package an exciting experience in itself, and the quality of the product was immediately clear from the hardware's look and feel. For its price, it punches well above its weight in aesthetics alone.

Once it was set up on my record cabinet, which was a swift and enjoyable experience, I prepared myself for a faff to get my Bluetooth speakers paired - it was a completely painless experience and with just the tap of the front-facing power button it paired immediately. I usually listen to records the ol.
