Panaji: The town & country planning (TCP) department will hear on Oct 14 the matter relating to the show-cause notice issued to fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani on his project being constructed at Pomburpa . The Mapusa deputy town planner issued the notice, asking why the technical clearance for the project should not be withdrawn. “The high court allowed us, the petitioner-complainants, to be parties in that show-cause notice and allowed us to participate in the hearing,” senior advocate Carlos Ferreira, representing the petitioners, told the media after the hearing.
“The notice was issued only to Tahiliani,” Ferreira said. “Since we are the complainants and the notice has been issued on the basis of our complaints and objections, naturally, we have the right to be heard.” He informed the court that the approvals for the project have been granted based on the old regional plan 2001, which is no longer in force.
Pomburpa villagers approached the HC, alleging that the project was given permissions in violation of the law. “We already have the regional plan 2021 , and on that basis, this permission could not have been granted,” Ferreira added..
