PBS Guam celebrated 54 years of existence with live music at its gala on Nov. 2 at Hyatt Regency Guam with those in attendance showing off a variety of fashion choices. Ina Carillo, general manager for PBS Guam, said the event was a smaller, intimate event, but one that she would love to see grow into something more substantial.

The theme for the event was “Into the Night”, which is a play on late-night television. “PBS has a well-known show called ‘Austin City Limits’ which features prominent musicians from different genres, and it airs in the late night. We want to model our gala to highlight great music while simultaneously celebrating our station and raising funds,” said Carillo.

The audience was treated to performances by Biggah & Bettah and The Swich Band from Australia, which played R&B, disco and some island music. Funds raised at the event will be used to assist with funding upcoming projects and to help sustain the station’s operations. PBS Guam is the only public television station in the region.

It is community-focused and values viewer input to help fulfill its mission to provide educational content that entertains, informs, and serves Guam and the Northern Mariana Island communities. A couple hundred people came to the gala to support the mission of PBS Guam each with their own fashion style. What did guests wear to the event? Look no further.
