Dusit Thani Guam Resort’s Royal Ballroom played host to an elegant fashion-filled affair on Oct. 19 as Lions Club International District 204 celebrated their 32nd anniversary. The event also saw the inauguration of the new district governor, Roy Adonay, cabinet officers and committee chairpersons.
Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero and various community leaders from Guam and Saipan attended the event. The attire for the night was black tie and evening gown.
Men wore tuxedos and suits while the women wore floor-length gowns in various styles and with eye-catching embellishments. With a few exceptions, guests chose mostly to wear deep, dark colors. The different Lions Clubs registered with District 204 started the program with a lively parade of clubs.
Speeches were delivered by the groups’ leadership, renewing their commitment to serving the community. Performances kept guests entertained. Lions Clubs International is the largest membership-based service club organization in the world.
There are 1.4 million members serving locally and globally to help take on some of the biggest challenges facing humanity. The organization, through its various clubs, has worked on service projects ranging from addressing hunger to improving vision, protecting the environment, and raising diabetes awareness.
“Your kindness is not only changing lives – it is inspiring others to do the same,” Fabricio Oliveira, international president of Lions International, wrote in a letter to the club’s member.
