Chandigarh: With Republic Tanzania as the partner country and Odisha as the partner state, the stage is all set for the ninth edition of the International Gita Mahotsav 2024. Commencing from Nov 28, the 18-day-long event shall have different strokes of cultural exchange with Odisha and Tanzania, besides the tableau and events that will showcase the history and culture of Geeta Mahotasva and Kurukshetra. Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini, who was accompanied by minister of state Odisha Suryabanshi Suraj, Tanzania envoy to India Anisa Kapufi Mbega and Geeta Manishi Swami Gyananand Maharaj, on Friday formally unveiled the theme and rolled out the events to be held during the mahotsava.

Saini said Tanzania also participated as the partner country in the International Surajkund Crafts Fair held in Feb. He highlighted that Indian diaspora in Tanzania actively organises recitations of the Shri Ramayana and Shrimad Bhagavad Gita. The presence of numerous Hindu temples in Tanzania fosters a connection between the Indian culture and the country.



Referring to the partner state of Odisha, he remarked that Odisha boasts significant pilgrimage sites such as Jagannath Puri, the Konark Sun Temple, and the Lingaraj and Mukteshwar Temples in Bhubaneswar, all of which are sources of pride for Sanatan culture.
